Anatomy Flashcard, Conveniet

I found these cards good for studying and learning about bones and muscles for my anatomy and physiology class. The pictures are well-done, the cards are handy, easy to carry around when you are doing errands. Other study aids I found very useful were:

"Anatomy and Physiology study guide: Key review questions and answers with explanations volume 1, 2, 3 by Patrick Leonardi (This has great questions and answers that you need for exams in college)

Also, Key Facts for Anatomy and Physiology by Patrick Leonardi (wonderful summary of the facts when your pressed for time)

Helpful and convenient

I am taking a 2-semester anatomy and physiology course now and these cards have been a great help. They're convenient to use - I carry a section in my bag and review them when I have 10 minutes here or there. The drawings are really good, and unlike another reviewer I have not found any errors. The only downside is integumentary (skin) system isn't included. But other than that, I have no other complaints. I am very happy I bought these.

Not enough detail

I bought these cards to supplement A&P, but the cards do not go into enough detail to be very useful. Also, I've found several smaller mistakes, and one large mistake (one of the cards of the heart was labeled backwards - I confirmed this with my instructor). After a couple weeks I went back and bought the Netter's flash cards - they were comparably priced and are *much* more useful.

Great study resource!

I have been ordering many copies of this book for faculty, students and residents that request it. A year ago, one of the Board examiners in the Specialty of Prosthodontics recommended it for the "specialty" exam preparation, in particular because the book emphasizes an appraisal of literature in clinical decision making.

I highly recommend this book.

Was a bit disappointed with this book. The cases are not discussed in depth in regards to the treatment planning. Many of the cases do not have final treatment pictures, and those that are available are small with poor picture quality. Some of the cases are very interesting except the authors don't always discuss the treatment done that much. Very little information provided. I do think it's a good book to provide broad information for undergraduate dental students.

Hybrid systems describe the interaction of software, modeled by finite-state systems such as finite-state machines, with the physical world, described by infinite-state systems such as differential equations. Verification and Control of Hybrid Systems provides a unique systematic exposition of several classes of hybrid systems, admitting symbolic models along with the relationships between them. The text outlines several key verification and control synthesis results for hybrid systems, guided by the concept of bisimulation, and illustrated by numerous examples.

The book is divided into four parts:

Part I presents basic concepts centered on a notion of system that is general enough to describe finite-state, infinite-state, and hybrid systems.

Part II discusses the ways in which systems relate to other systems, such as behavioral inclusion/equivalence and simulation/bisimulation, using these relationships to study verification and control synthesis problems for finite-state systems.

Part III draws inspiration from timed automata to present several classes of hybrid systems, with richer continuous dynamics, that can be related to finite-state symbolic systems. Once such relationships are established, verification and control synthesis problems for these hybrid systems can be immediately solved by resorting to the techniques described in Part II for finite-state systems.

Part IV follows the same strategy by generalizing simulation/bisimulation relationships to approximate simulation/bisimulation relationships that can be used for a wider class of hybrid systems.

Was very useful

I'm a PhD student in the area of control theory, I was so curious about simulation, and bisimulation relations and how they apply to verification and control of hybrid systems. It gave me a very good understanding of these notions together with information on where the literature is in the computer science part of hybrid systems. I actually did not buy it, I lent it from the library. I don't think it is available online for everyone, it is available only for those universities which have bought springer publications.

I just came here to appreciate the endeavour Paulo Tabuada has put on this book to make it as clear as possible to all readers, even those who are not very familiar with the background and notions in the field like me.

I'm sad that I didn't notice that the entire book is available on-line for free (from the publisher even). I'd like to support the author, but I'm not sure I want to spend $80 on this book when I don't have to.

This Could Have Been a Much Better Book

I really wanted to give this impressive book by George McKenna a better rating. He is an expert on religion in American life and history. This is obvious. But way too often the author seems to let personal bias and political bugaboos get in the way of what could have been a great straight history.

First: the good parts. McKenna's retelling of early American politics and the role religion played is top notch. From the Anne Hutchinson trial to the role of religion in the pre-Civil Wart abolition movement and in the life of Abraham Lincoln were superb.

However, as the closer the author gets to the modern day the more he seems hell bound to interject politics into his telling of history. He goes on far too many tangents that don't seem germane to his history. The Hiss/Chambers account and the many political movements that sprung up in the 1960s and 70s top the list of rants that detract from the overall history.

A better editor with an ability to keep the author focused, and an author more interested in recounting history and leaving his personal bugaboos out would have made this much better that it currently is.

It is about good, old and infamous Project Management

Agile Project Management with Kanban by Eric Brechner is very different from the last two books about Kanban I have had an opportunity to read recently (Kanban in Action and Kanban from the Inside). It is about good, old and infamous Project Management, something, what many Agile or Lean orthodox people call bad and dead. It briefly presents precise and actionable ways how to apply Kanban as a tool for organizations of different kind and size. Despite being written by a guy who worked for a huge product development organization (Xbox/Microsoft), the book manages to escape insanely popular trend of telling how to scale Kanban, just as consulting business suggests to scale Scrum or Agile. Instead it meets the reality of any software or product development teams, which do not work independently. It comes with an open letter to upper management, which needs to support evolution toward Kanban, as well as with questions and more important answers you may need to convince your peers, working with Waterfall or Scrum in the past.

You won't find here too many details about theories behind Lean and Kanban, but just enough to know where to look for it and why things work better this way. The author, moreover, offers ready-to-use Excel sheets, to calculate just a few, but super important numbers and metrics for your team, so you can track some KPIs and improve based on real data, not just your gut feeling. Very concise! Highly recommended!

We had a supposed (certified) scrum master where I worked last but being my first experience with it, I was shocked how unproductive our processes were. After learning what scrum was supposed to be like, I realized how saying you practice scrum and doing scrum are two different things. Our bug tracking software (Fogbugz) included a Kanban board which got me interested in researching the subject which ultimately led to this wonderful book. After reading it, I have to admit I think this is going to be better than scrum. Can't wait to try it out. This book is highly recommended!

I love this book

I love this book, and I _love_ using Kanban. I use it at work, and my family uses it at home to track schoolwork, chores, and even some house projects. It made a huge difference for tracking schoolwork. I evangelize Kanban to friends and coworkers, and when I do, I point them to this book as a starting point. Simply put, Kanban works better than anything else I have tried - it strips away the unneeded stuff and focuses you on what you need to be doing with very minimal overhead. It is very flexible so you can adjust it for your needs once you master the basics, even to the point to adapting to the space you have available for you Kanban board.

Full disclosure: I work on one of the teams Eric referenced in this book. The picture of our Kanban board in the book was very early on when our team was still learning to use the full power of Kanban. We've improved on that early board a bit by optimizing it for our team over the 4+ years we've been using it, but even in the "early learning stages" Kanban worked better than anything else we'd ever tried. Like anything else, the longer you do use a tool, the better you get at using it, and our team is no exception.

Don't by THIS book! Oononono!

I am very sorry there was no honest review of this book online when I decided to purchase it. I could have saved money and time and not gotten so very frustrated by an inadequate and overpriced bit of fluff that could have been more cost effective as a $.99 Kindle digital download.

Wait, that would still have been overpriced.

I reviewed what I had originally written about the format, the lack of truly useful information and the empty space filling writing that filled so much of the book and then deleted it and sat down to rethink what I had written. Still, in a single sentence, DON'T BOTHER TO BUY THIS BOOK.

Here is free and useful idea that will make more sense. If you are not familiar with EFT start by going to the official website EFT Universe and get acquainted! ([...]) All the information is free and can be downloaded from the website to get you started. The entire EFT manual is provided online and can be downloaded at no cost, or the original manual can be purchased here at AMAZON.

At the EFT website USE THE KEYWORD SEARCH for "animal surrogates". There is an excellent report by Gwyneth Moss, EFT Master, on treating animals. You can also find additional practical reports for download from Gwyneth Moss and Heather Smiles ([...]).

So far I have used EFT surrogate tapping on human and pet friends and it is absolutely effective! I hope that author Andrea Christos takes SOLID research in the future and uses it to create an honest, well written and easy to follow and practical guide for others to use, but for now this is not it.

WORTHLESS

This book was the worst book I have ever purchased. It is basically the authors need to tell stories about her pets and says nothing about the actual subject of EFT. I could not believe that someone had the nerve to put a few short stories on paper, call it an EFT workbook and charge $$$$ fot it. Not even worth 1 star
