Not reading the book is the fifth mistake!

This short book is a nice start to what looks to be a very promising addition to poker training. These four chapters are indeed important topics for anyone wondering why they are losing money at the poker table. The first two "mistakes" were merely confirmation of concepts I already know and use, but are nonetheless very important and explained very well. And Rob's right: I see people losing lots of money making those specific mistakes. Mistake #3 approaches a common topic from an entirely new angle, and there are some choice ideas in there that are worth remembering. Mistake #4 was an enigma: at first I thought it was a bit boring -- as if Rob put some filler in the book. The more I think about it, though, this chapter is the best of the bunch, at least for me, because it talks about losing money by not maximizing your hand in different situations. I don't want to give away much more since I encourage you buy the chapters -- if you win one extra BB from reading it, it will have paid for itself. I look forward to more. Thanks, Rob!

A Good Overview

I think "Toward a Zero Energy Home" provides a good overview of what is going on in the technology side of building. I like the fact that a variety of opinions are presented for the reader on different methods working toward the same goal of building a technically smart, energy efficient living space. Anyone interested in this subject will find numerous other books that should be read as well for a more complete understanding of the topic. This volume, in my opinion, holds its own as one of the books that will contribute to that knowledge and is a worthwhile read.

A bit too generic for my taste...

While there is nothing inherently wrong with the book (I'm sure it will be exactly what some buyers want) it simply didn't meet my needs. I felt like I was reading a bunch of articles from my Fine Homebuilding magazine (BTW, great magazine).

That is, it covered all sorts of areas, but none of them in enough detail for my liking. In that sense, it is a complete "Guide" to energy self-sufficiency at home.

An excellent book to read before designing your own home.

In fact, before designing your own home, you should probably read 5 or 6 books at least, but I believe this should be the first one you read.
It has practical advise on how to save on utilities bills and making a very healthy home. Although it apply for an eco-view of things, it is not focused on the "tree huggers" crowd. Be ecological as a bonus for saving money.

Great advise in what to aim for and what to avoid.

About the Author
The members of the Sunnyside United Dog Society come from many different backgrounds and their dogs are just as diverse. In this middle class Queens, neighborhood they number school teachers, nurses, engineers, bus drivers, store owners right down to military aviation historians.Jeannette Remak, who edited the stories of the owners and produced the book, is the owner of Phoenix Aviation Research and a published author/ researcher and aviation artist for the U.S. Air Force.

I loved this book! Great job highlighting the many dogs that make up this great commmunity. Interesting highlights about how a community persevered and created a beautiful park!

The power of unity, love and sacrifice/

An amazing testimony from animal lovers, dedicated neighbors, and special humans capable of love animals deeply and with an extraordinary sense of community. The day we all understand the meaning of adopting, loving unconditionally, and caring with no limits another specie such as our pets, learn their language, the humanity will much better and compassionate. Congratulations to all involved.

This is one of the best books for animal lovers and a gift to someone who loves animals. I take time to read each story and it's a very good book to be placed on your table as a decoration as well. The size is perfect and the cover design is unique. A book about dogs doesn't always have to have a solo dog on the cover but showing what keeps a dog safe - a collar! That's a pretty well-thought idea for a book cover. Whatever the case is, the stories are so important to take away from. Sunnyside neighborhood will not be the same without pets and their owners walking the neighborhood streets and playing at the park. They should be proud of what they do to this community. Thank you for the beautiful people who made this happen. Best book to keep for yourself and have some extras for your loved ones. Enjoy!

a loving treatment of a myriad of features

When I first received this book in the mail I was appalled. It is a "print on demand" publication, about the size of a ream of paper, and my copy has slightly fuzzy printing and photos (perhaps due to the paper or printer used by the local printer).
A few weeks later I brought it along as poolside reading for a late summer vacation to our local , (Southern California), desert. It proved to be an excellent choice. While it is written somewhat in the style of a guidebook, it is more an illustrated personal narrative of encounters with flora, fauna, people and landscapes on dozens of routes over decades of visits.
There is an incredible amount of useful information packed into this volume, but perhaps it shines even more as a deeply personal expression of love of all the animals and everything else in the park. It is well worth reading even for those of us who are not planning a visit.
