I love this book.
John Z understands addiction and the "bound will" and the human desperation for God.
He explains, from a Christian perspective, why AA is often more effective than the Church in helping others come to grips with their own impotence and paralysis, enabling them, through the 12 Steps, to trust ever more deeply in God.
Beautifully written----easy to read-----personally helpful.

EXCELLENT BOOK! If I could I would put it in the hands of everyone I know, addict or not. This book speaks to the human condition and the need for intervention from a "Higher Power" (to use AA lingo). It's applicable to addicts of any shape and size or anyone who recognizes somethign is wrong with their fallen self and is looking for answers. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. It will change you.

I recently led two book discussion gatherings through Grace in Addiction and was astounded by the practically applicable teaching of John Z.. I have long admired the success of AA but as only as an outsider. Leaning on the rich truths of reformed theology and his own personal history with and powerful understanding of Alcoholics Anonymous John Z. challenges readers' presuppositions and at the same time draws readers both "churched" and "unchurched" into the restorative/redemptive power of the 12 steps and The Grace of The Gospel within the steps.

I am an addict, first and foremost to myself (all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God). GIA helped us all to once again behold God as principally a savior in our time of need, only then can we presently re-encounter the grace of God NOW! Close but not quite like reality

As a girl who struggles with these fantasies myself, I can say there are many realistic elements and many fake elements to Lexies writing. While the deep arousal and shame at these thoughts are present, the stories don't do a good job capturing the realism of the internal conflict.

In my experience, the arousal and shame come from not just imagining my fiancee with his ex, or even the humiliation of being forced to watch... It comes from an extension of my own self image. Where my breasts sag with large areola and stretch marks, hers I imagine to be firm, perky, and perfect. Where my butt has some cellulite, she has flawless tight cheeks. In this story, the women are all gorgeous with perfect bodies and no reason to be ashamed.

Lexie also spends too much time talking about the husband. In a cuckquean fantasy, I am first thinking about the more desirable qualities of my fiancees ex, then about my own arousal and shame and then my fiancee's actions.

She does do a wonderful job describing the various people but should not neglect the emotion.

Save your money. Read the original.

If you're reading this review, you can download the texts of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the rest of the amendments for FREE! The original texts are actually MUCH clearer than this book's attempts to "translate" documents already written in English. There are a few (no more than ten) terms the average sixth grader might need to look up in the actual documents, but that's a much better use of your time than reading this book. Frankly, it is so poorly wrtitten that it is an embarassment to this era. They did a MUCH better job 200+ years ago.

I thought I knew enough about the Constitution from my high school and college classes to pass a test. I just didn't want to take a chance. I found this little book to be the perfect study guide for the Constitution test. I think a good study guide does more than force the memorization of facts. It frames the subject with useful information and improves understanding. This guide does that without adding any political overtones or commentary. The excerpts from the Federalist Papers were intriguing and actually reinforced the material.

It might be possible to prepare for a test by just reading the Constitution. However, this book gave me three or four passes through the Constitution. I read the Constitution, then I read the annotation. I followed that with the study aids and the practice test. Twice through that and I was ready. Not only did I pass the test, but I really think I understand the Constitution better than before..

Great Read!

This books is kind of twisted in some ways. I not sure if i would call it a love story and it definitely is a weird and usual love that develops between the two main characters Kristine and Garrett. Kristine and her two friends are kidnapped in a night club and they are being "Broken in" before going up for auction. Garrett and his brother Justin have joined these thugs and monster to find their sister, Andrea. She is seventeen and was captured too. Kristine is a fighter and is a really strong character to begin with but being auctioned off is destroying the fight in her. Garrett wants to protect her but he has to do things to her that he doesn't want to do but in order to find his sister, he has to be one of them.
Even though it is an usual story and one i didn't think i would like, i really enjoyed it. I really loved the characters and even though Garrett had to do some unspeakable things to Kristine, i couldn't help but sympathize with him. I was a bit like their friend Kelly, i couldn't understand how Kristine or Riza could love them after what they did but the more i read, the more i understood how they thought. Really loved it and can't wait to read more work from Michelle Horst.

Just when you think going clubbing is fun....this will make you think before you go!!

I was given this book for a honest review...and...WOW!! I couldn't put it down!

Kristine, Riza and Kelly have been best friends since they started going to school. And as best friends go, it turned into a sisterhood. Always together. So when they all finished college, they decided to take a year off and go to places each wanted to see. Vegas is Riza's choice. She wants to see the full sin that makes Vegas Vegas. The Red Lounge, is a strip/erotica club, but you have to be a member to go. So the girls fill out what needs to be done and head out for a night of fun. Little do they realize how much their lives will change.

Kristine, isnt a prude, but compared to her 2 friends, she's more cautious. When her two friends make eye contact with a bunch of guys at the show, she blows it off. Once the show starts though, she needs to get a breath of air. When she comes back her friends are gone, up in the box seats with the guys. Once led up there, things seem to be going good. Until one friend gets knocked out and a gun is pulled on the other 2 girls.

Kidnapped into a sex ring, now the girls have to figure out how to survive. How much can a person take before they break? What motivates the monsters behind all this?? Can the girls make it out alive??

A deliciously dark romance

Oh my, what a deliciously dark love story!
This book focuses on Kris and Garret and how they meet. It's not your typical hearts and flowers romance, so don't expect to swoon over sweet romance gestures.

Kris and her friends Kelly and Riza are in Vegas when they decide to head to an adult club of sorts, what they don't count on is being kidnapped for the human slave trade.

Garret and his brother Justin are working with a group of human traffickers as a means to an end. Thy are not really bad guys, but they need to appear that way in order to achieve their goal.

What Kris endures is horrible, but no where near as bad as it could have been if Garret did not claim her for his own to break her in. After all these girls needed to be perfect sex slaves in order to bring in good money.

It is a dark twisted romance that is not for those sensitive to violence, abuse, slavery and manipulation.

You Can't Help Falling In Love With David and Isaac

I just wanted David and Isaac's story to go on forever until they were old and gray. Their relationship was so tender and sweet. I absolutely loved it. I've never read such a unique premise and I learned so much about the Amish community. The secondary characters were just as wonderful. Anna, June Aaron and Jen what wonderful support they gave the boys. This story will stick with me for awhile! Keira Andrews, you have a new fan. Beautiful trilogy I highly recommend!

When last we left our poor Amish boys, Isaac was back in Zebulon and David was more than a little broken. The English world had taken its toll on David and their relationship. We were left wondering how they wouldn’t find each other again with Isaac back in the clutches of his highly conservative religious family and community.

The reason Isaac is back in Zebulon is the dire state of his brother’s health. Nothing short of that would make him return, but he has to return, or they will never be free of the demons of their past. Of course, David joins him there in short order.

Maybe I have read too many books (is that possible), but A Way Home played out exactly as I thought it would. All the suspense that was generated by each little step added interest, but not as much as I think was intended. Each conflict was tied up in a pretty bow and life moved forward. Demons are exercised, and Isaac and David are stronger than ever.

While I don’t know that we would be able to believe the happily ever after in any other way, the short timeline for the epiphanies (not to mention the cancer treatment for Nathan) was a little disappointing for this reader. The quick way the Clark incident was put behind our heroes also seemed a bit disingenuous.

The circular arguments of the parent’s and community did begin to grate on my nerves a bit, but seeing each argument bolster Isaac and/or David’s resolve was satisfying.

All that said, A Way Home is a much-needed conclusion to Isaac and David’s story. If you have made it this far in their journey, you will no doubt want to pick up this (assumed) final installment on their road to freedom.

Great end to a fantastic trilogy

I'm a huge fan of the previous two books in this series, so I was eager to get my hands on this third (and sadly final) instalment, A Way Home. It's difficult to review series books without mentioning things which may be spoilers for the previous books - so if you haven't read the other two books, I'd suggest looking away now, or maybe skipping to the end of the review.

A Way Home tells the story of David and Isaac, due to a family emergency, returning to Zebulon. Almost immediately, the pressure is on - their families are using this opportunity to get them to return to the fold, to their Amish roots. While the boys are stricken with more guilt over leaving, and struggling to hide their true selves, deep down, they know they'll never return to Zebulon to live. They love their families - but they also love each other, and those things can't co-exist side by side.

The complications grow, but on the bright side, it seems to push David and Isaac closer together, helping them to forget events back in San Francisco which threatened to tear them apart. Stronger together, the boys are determined to weather the storm in Zebulon and return to the west coast happier than ever.

This was another page turner of a read. Keira Andrews has written a corker of a trilogy here, so different and unique, and yet still containing struggles we all face. It's wrapped up nicely, but if Andrews ever decided to continue David and Isaac's story, I'd still read on to find out what their lives have in store next. They're incredibly lovable characters, and ones I was sad to leave behind. A Way Home is a fantastic read, and one I'd recommend to gay romance fans.

Great read& resource

I read the book and then decided I needed to start the journal! Though I was almost into the 2nd trimester with my 3rd child- I started the journal. It was very easy to jump right in from my current week of pregnancy. This journal helped me pinpoint areas of faith for my pregnancy and delivery. I live how at the end of each chapter there is a tidbit if what is developing in your baby and scriptures that can correlate with that area. The only thing I wish is that I started the journal sooner!

About the Author

David Shaw worked in fashion buying for over 20 years for some of the UK's largest fashion retailers. A pioneer of several of the first fashion buying courses, David is now an academic, consultant trainer and writer.

Dimitri Koumbis is a fashion marketing and management professor at The Savannah College of Art and Design, USA. He previous worked in visual merchandising for more than 15 years for many fast-fashion retailers.

Clear & Precise !

This book is a breath of fresh air. It’s very reader-friendly, clear to understand and what I love most it cuts to the chase without the wordiness. Each page provides graphics stills as examples to help the reader comprehend the given topic. One useful feature about this book is located at the end of each chapter in where you’ll be able to find a chapter summery along questions you should ask yourself, and group questions in order to “test yourself” in what you have learned. As a fashion merchandiser, and a future Buyer this will be one of my "Go-to" books at all times. I would highly recommend this book to anyone entering the fashion world or who ever is currently in it because, the book covers a variety of subjects that are useful for everyone in this industry and, is relevant to today's society.

The ideal Fashion buying book.

I am a Fashion Marketing and Merchandising Major and would definitely recommend investing in this book to any of my peers. This book is very knowledgeable and the information given is easy to digest especially for readers that are unaware of how the fashion industry operates. After reading you will feel totally enlightened. It is by far the best fashion buying book I have ever read thus far. I will also use this book as a guideline for my career!
