Inspirational

"Edison as I Know Him" by Henry Ford is a highly readable account of Ford's admiration of Edison as well as a valuable insight into Edison's character as a man and inventor, and his monumental influence on mankind. While it is obvious that Ford is a bias reporter his thoughts and reporting are nonetheless accurate and inspiring. As it was Edison (his childhood idol) probably more than anyone else who encouraged Ford [1896] in pursuing his development of the internal combustion engine and automobile. Ford became lifelong friends with Edison after becoming reacquainted with him in 1912 (well after Ford's successful introduction of the Model T in 1908), and from 1914 and 1924 they took annual Model T tours across the Eastern part of the United States with naturalist John Burroughs and Henry Firestone et al. This story is a treat for any student of history as well as an uplifting experience for everyone else.

Ford gives his very high opinion of Thomas Edison.

This book tells about one giant from the perspective of another. When you hear Ford give the accolades he does about Edison it makes so much more impact than if it was just some historian.
